To Those Who Wait

Do any of you remember this darling sweater from J Crew a few seasons ago? I certainly do. I had big plans for this sweater and I. It's $98 price tag kept us apart.

I was at Marshall's today (buying my son's backpack), minding my own business, not even thinking about buying anything for myself, when I happened upon this:

Dead ringer.

(Vanity Moment: How HUGE does my head look in the middle picture? Can you say bobble head? I can't stop laughing. . .)

Did I mention the $12.99 price?

Backpack, Backpack

After much deliberation, we have made some choices.

I give you my oldest daughter's backpack:

It will match her yellow winter coat!

With this binder.
What for my soon to be middle schooler? I was thinking along the lines of this.

But when he heard that they make these - BYU backpacks- he was all in.
I myself am not crazy about the light blue or the price ($58!) My genius friend thought it would be just as easy to make one yourself.

Under Armour backpack (Marshalls $25) + BYU embroidered patch (Bookstore $4) = Cheaper and better looking.

As for the 2 youngest, we are reusing last year's backpacks. Even if they have these totally adorable backpacks for my little girl.

Despicable Me

It's been hotter than hades around here. We needed a break from the summer heat + humidity.

Totally adorable. We are very much enjoying $4 movie tickets.

Tale of 2 shirts

I love this shirt. Originally, I was going to buy it in pink but fell in love with yellow. It's hard not to wear it everyday.

Recently spotted: this shirt. I am a fan of sleeves.

Already

I am already thinking back to school. I know some of you just got summer started, but we only have a little over a month left. So I am prepping myself for backpacks, school supplies, new shoes and back-to-school outfits.

For my youngest:

gap, gap, and old navy.

Free Tips

If you happen to be lucky enough to live in the Kansas City area, you may want to know this:

1. Gennaio boutique (located at the Summit Fair) carries some (a very little) of the Downeast clothing line.

A sample of some of Downeast's cothing (I did not see either of these at the store):

2. B2 Burger is a fine establishment and should be visited often. I highly recommend the BBQ Bacon burger, chop salad, and their fries. (also located in Summit Fair)
3. All movies before 6pm at Cinemark's theater at the Country Club Plaza are $4. Weekday, weekend, all $4!!! This means you can take your kids to all the new releases and avoid paying mucho dinero. It's a nice theater. Free air conditioning.

And bonus, it happens to be located across the street from this:

Eclipse

I liked it. A lot. Don't get me wrong, I giggled through several parts (Jasper's hair and Jacob the shirt-less wonder.) I also rolled my eyes quite a bit. But overall, I thought it was a lot of fun.

Perfection*

This came last week. My generous friends gave me a chunk of change (for my birthday) towards the purchase of this little beauty. Sufficeth to say, some dreams do come true.

*Perfection referring to the dress, not me.
